Sage Timeslips Announces New Service Release for Timeslips Premium
By Dana Riel
(A 3-minute read that is worth your while!)
Timeslips is pleased to announce the latest service release for Timeslips Premium is now available. This service release brings those users up to Version 30.0.8.176. If you use Timeslips Premium and do not see this version under your Help > About Timeslips Premium screen, you need to apply this latest update.
This service release packs in new features and addresses some issues that concerned some of our users:
1. Importing Details of Mass Payments – Some firms receive large payments from a client that has many matters or projects. That client may provide payment breakdown on a spreadsheet or in a comma-separated (CSV) file. Timeslips now has a new command: Transactions > Import Payments. This will import payment details from a CSV file and create individual payment transactions to apply to those matters or projects.
2. More Characters for Abbreviation Tokens – Do you use abbreviations in Timeslips? They allow you to set up alpha-numeric codes for frequently typed words, phrases, and sentences in description fields. Moreover, Timeslips has abbreviation tokens that can be used with abbreviations to create a “fill in the blank” area for customization. Up until now, filling in the blanks for token fields had an 8-character maximum. This service release expands the token field to 15 characters. (Call us if you’d like to know more about using this!)
3. Timeslips Go Dashboard Now Fits the Screen – If you have the Standard, Pro or Elite editions of Timeslips Premium [1], then your subscription includes Timeslips Go, the mobile/web companion which allows users to track their time and expenses remotely, enhancing productivity outside the office. Customers who use this add-on can review updates and transfer that data through the Timeslips Go Dashboard. The new service release adjusted the size of the dashboard so that it fits on most screens, including those on laptops. Some options are now available by right-clicking so users can access them even when they are not onscreen. And improvements were made to the descriptions for some transfer notification and error conditions.
4. New Filter for Timeslips Go – Downloading Slips by Date – If your firm uses Timeslips Go, there are several filters to control which slips are transferred to Timeslips Premium. The new service release added two more filters: Download completed slips by date and Download all slips by date.
The new service release also fixes the following issues for Timeslips Go Users:
1. Special Characters transferred from Timeslips Go Inaccurately – Some users reported that special characters (dashes, letters with accent marks) were transferred incorrectly with random characters. This issue has been fixed.
2. Timeslips Go Transfer Could Fail if New Logins were Added – If a new login for Timeslips was created but that login had not yet used Timeslips Go, users reported that their transfer to Timeslips Premium failed. This issue has been fixed.
3. Billing Rates May Not Transfer for New or Updated Timeslips Go Timekeepers – It was reported that if timekeeper rates were added or updated in Timeslips Premium, those rates may not transfer to Timeslips Go. This issue has been fixed.
4. Editing a Slip in Timeslips Go Could Remove the Billing Status – If an activity in Timeslips *Premium* has a billing status of “Default” (something we always advise our clients to fix!) and a user edits a slip with that activity and changes the client, the change could make the billing status field blank. This issue has been fixed.
The new service Release also fixes the following issues for Timeslips Premium Users:
1. In the Time Sheet View, Users Can Use NN1 or NN2 – In several areas in Timeslips users can choose to view names by Nickname 1 or Nickname 2. An issue was reported where Timeslips Premium was not remembering user preferences in the Time Sheet view. This issue has been fixed.
2. In the Time Sheet View, Users Could Not Apply Slip Abbreviations – Users reported that when entering slip description for time sheet entries, they could not access their abbreviations. This issue has been fixed.
The September 2025 service release was issued and is available as of September 24, 2025. We still maintain our policy of waiting for 1-2 weeks before applying it in case there are reported effects from this release.
